Dacey to be honored May 24 at Bishop Lecture
Neurosurgery head is honoree, keynote speaker

Ralph G. Dacey Jr., MD, will be the honoree and keynote speaker at the 62nd annual George H. Bishop Symposium in Experimental Neurology, Thursday, May 24. The symposium, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., will take place in Connor Auditorium in the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center on the Medical Campus.
Dacey, the Henry G. and Edith R. Schwartz Professor and head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University School of Medicine, and neurosurgeon-in-chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, is being recognized for his accomplishments in cerebrovascular research and neurosurgery, and his unwavering leadership in resident training and education. His talk is titled “Research in Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018: Looking Backward and Looking Forward.”
The Bishop Lecture is named after George Holman Bishop, PhD, a neuroscientist at the School of Medicine who helped elucidate how electrical signals travel through nerve fibers. Bishop joined the faculty in 1923 and served until his death in 1973 at age 84. Bishop was highly regarded for his scientific skills and his remarkable way with words and sense of humor.
Also speaking at the symposium will be neurosurgery faculty members Gavin P. Dunn, MD, PhD, Albert H. Kim, MD, PhD, Eric C. Leuthardt, MD, Wilson Z. Ray, MD, and Gregory J. Zipfel, MD.
