Blanchard receives teaching award
Honored with 2017 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award
Melvin Blanchard, MD, a professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and program director of the internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, has received a 2017 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award.
The award, from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), honors program directors who find innovative ways to teach residents and to provide quality health care while remaining connected to the initial goal of caring for others in a hospital environment.
This ACGME award honors author Parker J. Palmer, PhD, who wrote a book about teaching called “The Courage to Teach.”
