Dacey honored by neurosurgery society
Recognized for contributions to neurosurgical education
Ralph G. Dacey Jr., MD, the Henry G. & Edith R. Schwartz Professor and head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Neurological Surgeons. He received the award in May at the organization’s annual meeting, which was in Houston.
The award recognizes his decades of service to neurosurgical education. Since joining the School of Medicine’s faculty in 1989, Dacey has recruited and educated more than 50 neurosurgery residents.
Dacey, who is also neurosurgeon-in-chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, helps diagnose and treat cerebral aneurysms, brain tumors and malformations in the blood vessels in the brain. He and his team use innovative techniques and tools to minimize damage to the brain and nerves during surgery.
