November 17, 2021

Jonathan Kipnis, PhD, the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff Distinguished Professor of Pathology & Immunology and a BJC Investigator at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named an academic editor of the Journal of Experimental Medicine, a high-impact journal that publishes papers on immunology, cancer biology, vascular biology, microbial pathogenesis, neuroscience and stem cell biology.

As an academic editor, he advises the journal on how to cover the field of neuroimmunology and helps guide the manuscript review process.

Kipnis also is a professor of neurology, of neuroscience and of neurosurgery, and the founding director of the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia at Washington University. His work focuses on the complex interactions between the immune system and the central nervous system. He aims to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions to unravel the role such interactions play in neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental and neuroinflammatory disorders, as well as normal physiology and healthy aging.
