Lang named chair of NIH study section
Will lead team charged with evaluating musculoskeletal impairments, potential therapies
Catherine Lang, PhD, a professor of physical therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, will serve a two-year term as the chairperson of the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Sciences Study Section, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review.
Lang, also a professor of neurology and occupational therapy, will lead a committee of 11 researchers from across the country to evaluate applications pertaining to the biological mechanisms and therapeutics of impaired physical functioning. In addition, the committee will evaluate applications using exercise and physical manipulation as rehabilitation strategies in relation to the musculoskeletal system.
This leadership position acknowledges Lang’s demonstrated expertise and achievement in rehabilitation research, as well as the quality of her accomplishments.
