Linnenbringer appointed to advisory group

Will evaluate applications to National Society of Genetic Counselors

December 16, 2016

Erin Linnenbringer, PhD, an instructor in surgery for the Division of Public Health Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed to a five-year term on the Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship (JEMF) Advisory Group for the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Her term will start in January.

A social demographer and board-certified genetic counselor, Linnenbringer will review applications for the group’s prestigious fellowship, which is aimed at advancing professional development and practices of genetic counselors. Additionally, she will mentor JEMF applicants and awardees and evaluate student research grant proposals and manuscripts.

Besides her interest in expanding access to genetic counseling services, Linnenbringer’s research focuses on the relationships among social, environmental and genetic risk factors associated with breast cancer. In both areas, she aims to reduce health disparities.
