Oltz named editor-in-chief of immunology journal

Oltz
The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) has named Eugene M. Oltz, PhD, the next editor-in-chief of The Journal of Immunology. Oltz is a professor and the vice chair for faculty development in the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
The association also recently honored Oltz with the 2017 AAI Distinguished Service Award for his consistently outstanding service and commitment to the association and the immunology community.
Oltz will serve a five-year term with the journal, beginning July 1, 2018. Founded in 1916, the journal is the most highly cited publication in the field of immunology.
Oltz served as a section editor for the journal from 2007 to 2011, and as an associate editor from 1999 to 2003. He has also served as a member of the AAI Publications Committee from 2012-2016 and its chair from 2013 to 2016. Among his other duties, he served on the journal’s Scientific Integrity Committee. He also has been a featured speaker at AAI annual meetings, as well as a speaker in his field of expertise – genetic and epigenetic regulation of lymphocyte development.
Earlier this year, Oltz was named vice chair for faculty development in the Department of Pathology and Immunology. In this role, he mentors faculty members at all levels and in all tracks, with the goal of maximizing the impact of each faculty member’s work and pointing out opportunities for leadership.
