Panagos named chair-elect of stroke council
Group develops ways to identify, treat, prevent strokes
Peter Panagos, MD, a professor of emergency medicine and of neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed vice chair and chair-elect of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
The Stroke Council is one of 16 scientific councils within the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The council works to develop better ways to identify, treat and prevent strokes.
Panagos, who primarily studies acute stroke management, has been the principal investigator on several studies at the School of Medicine. He has published more than 100 articles and abstracts on the topic of stroke care. He also has served in a leadership role at the Washington University Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center, where he and his colleagues have improved stroke diagnosis and treatment across the St. Louis region.
