Three hematologists named ASH Scholar Award recipients

Three blood cancer researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis will receive the 2016 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Scholar Award.
Stephen Oh, MD, PhD, and Christopher Sturgeon, PhD, both assistant professors of medicine and Siteman Cancer Center research members, were recognized in the Basic/Translational Junior Faculty category. Each will receive a two-year, $150,000 grant as part of the recognition.
Hamza Celik, PhD, a postdoctoral research fellow, was recognized in the Basic Research Fellows category. He will receive a two-year, $100,000 grant.
The ASH Scholar Award program supports fellows and junior faculty dedicated to careers in hematology research as they transition from training programs to careers as independent investigators.
Oh, Sturgeon and Celik will be recognized in December at the 58th ASH Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego.
