Weilbaecher elected to Association of American Physicians
Her research aims to prevent and treat bone metastases in breast cancer patients

Katherine Weilbaecher, MD, a Washington University professor of medicine, has been elected to the Association of American Physicians (AAP), a leading medical group of more than 1,300 active members.
Her research focuses on the molecular ability of tumors to reprogram the bone microenvironment to aid metastases. She has developed several resulting clinical trials aimed at preventing and treating bone metastases in breast cancer patients.
Weilbaecher, a medical oncologist, treats breast cancer patients at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
She and other newly elected members will be introduced at a formal dinner in April in Chicago. Their election gives them the opportunity to share their scientific discoveries and contributions at AAP’s annual meeting. Steven Teitelbaum, MD, the Messing Professor of Pathology and Immunology at the School of Medicine and an AAP member, nominated her.
