Administration & Finance
The Administration and Finance Division provides comprehensive support services to the Washington University School of Medicine community. These services include finance, budgeting, parking and transportation, building maintenance, emergency management and campus safety.
Supporting the school’s commitment to excellence in education, research and patient care, the division practices continuous improvement to deliver innovative and high quality services while adhering to the highest professional standards.
Operations and Facilities Management Department
Overview: Provides professional and service-oriented stewardship for the long-term growth and preservation of the School of Medicine community. The department maintains more than 60 university buildings over 75 acres and provides service to nearly 10 million gross square feet of space.

Finance
Overview: Responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting at the school level. This is largely a collaborative process with the departments and services that make up the School of Medicine and with the Central Fiscal Unit of Washington University.
Services: For business managers and departmental administrators: budgeting, fiscal year report support, mission-based reporting, financial planning and more

Bernard Becker Medical Library
Overview: Brings together resources, information and expertise to deliver the School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital communities innovative support for advancing discovery and improving human health.
Services: Research resources, software packages, meeting rooms, classes and consulting expertise in citation management, database searching, evidence based practice, health literacy, publishing support and more
Collections: Electronic and print journals and books, audio-visual items, electronic databases, archival collections (institutional records, oral histories, etc.) and rare books

Center for Clinical Studies (CCS)
Overview: Provides the Washington University research community with administrative and clinical research services that facilitate regulatory compliance and operational best practices and that move trials efficiently from initial proposal through study close-out.
Services: Study placement, IRB and other regulatory support and guidance, comprehensive budget development and contract negotiation, recruitment support services (including a centralized research participant database), expert study coordination, dedicated research space, quality improvement initiatives and more

Joint Office of Strategic Planning (JOSP)
Overview: An internal resource of the School of Medicine and its partner hospitals – Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital – that supports strategic planning initiatives at all levels of the organizations.
Services: Supports the development and expansion of academic and clinical programs through analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data, facilitation of goal and strategy development sessions, and development of written strategic plans, financial pro forma and implementation steps

Office of Physician Billing Compliance
Overview: Responsible for physician and non-physician practitioner billing issues, including teaching physician services, documentation, CPT and ICD-9 coding guidelines, reimbursement requirements, and health care billing fraud and abuse
Services: Internal audits of clinical business units and physician practices, billing and compliance training and resources for faculty and staff
