Gordon receives humanitarian award
Orthopedic surgeon recognized for providing pediatric orthopedic care in the Caribbean

J. Eric Gordon, MD, has received the 2025 Humanitarian Award from the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. For the past 15 years he has regularly traveled to the eastern Caribbean to provide specialized orthopedic treatment to pediatric patients with limited access to health care.
J. Eric Gordon, MD, a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been awarded the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America’s Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes Gordon’s work to provide advanced orthopedic treatment to children in countries with limited access to specialized health care.
An accomplished surgeon, Gordon specializes in the treatment of limb length discrepancy and hip problems in children and adolescents. Over the past 15 years, he has traveled to the eastern Caribbean to work with the World Pediatric Project to provide orthopedic care to pediatric patients and has brought patients who need specialized procedures to St. Louis for treatment.
The Humanitarian Award has been given annually since 2011 to recognize members of the society who have made exceptional humanitarian efforts to improve the lives of children worldwide. The award was presented to Gordon at the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America’s annual meeting in May, held in Las Vegas.
