Picus receives AMA radiology award

Honored for advancing teachings of Current Procedural Terminology

March 17, 2016

Daniel D. Picus, MD, a professor of radiology and of surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the American Medical Association Radiology Current Procedural Terminology Burgess Gordon Memorial Award.

Presented during an AMA committee’s annual meeting in  February, Picus was honored for advancing teachings of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), both as an editorial adviser and committee member to the American College of Radiology and the American Medical Association. Additionally, Picus — senior vice chair in the Division of Diagnostic Radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology — served for four years as a member of the Radiology Coding Certification Board, which oversees the only radiology-specific coding certification examination.

The Burgess Gordon Memorial Award is presented annually to a CPT adviser who has made outstanding contributions to the CPT process.
